Completely destroyed in WWII, Nagoya has been rebuilt with expert planning to become the hub of Japan's transportation system. It is a major seaport for exporting and is the center of Japan's rail system. Attractions include: the Atsuta Shrine, rebuilt in 1952, that holds the "Grass Sword", one of the Imperial families most prized treasures; Central Park, a large underground shopping center; Fine Arts Museum, home of many of Japan's art treasures; the Grand Shrines of Ise, dating from the 4th and 5th century, they are in perfect condition as they are totally refurbished every 20 years; Nagoya Castle built in 1652; the Shrine of Toyouke no Omikami; and Tsuruma Park, home of a 60 acre vast array of Eastern and Western flora.
